3D Bike in Augmented Reality


Our customer is a Japanese public multinational conglomerate corporation primarily known as a manufacturer of automobiles, aircraft, motorcycles, and power equipment.


The customer requested a product to showcase their line of motorcycles, that is also compatible with a wide variety of devices. The user would be able to play around with various configuration options of the 3D bike in 360 view and transpose it into their own environment with the Augmented Reality mode.


Because the application needed to run on a wide variety of devices, the biggest challenge came from keeping the visual quality high while keeping the system requirements low.

The app is a ground detection Augmented Reality App that introduces the new bike model to fans. The users can play around with integrating the bike into any environment and configuring it to their personal preferences.

Users can explore all the key features and color variations of the bike. We used real-time 3D to create a smooth and engaging user experience.

Since lighting and material fidelity were the most important and most demanding parts of the application, a big focus was made on optimizations and finding clever solutions. For the materials on the models, custom shaders were written in order to remove unnecessary calculations.

Elements like custom shaders and simulating real time lightning reflections is what set the App apart, capturing tiny surface and lighting details that deliver the highest quality experience. This greatly reduced the requirements of the devices while giving the end user the same experience.
